Honda has confirmed the start of the
sale for Accord Coupe from the beginning
of March in all GCC countries. The all new
2008 Accord Coupe is the largest coupe
in its class measuring 4.85 m in length,
1.845 m in width and stands at 1.430 m.
The exterior is completely different
from the sedan plus the wheelbase is
also shorter by 60 mm. It embodies a
bold and prestigious design with character
lines that create aggressive angles
which are unique to the Accord. Its
styling also conveys a powerful stance
through its long hood, a six point grille
and projector headlamps that recess
deep into the front fenders and contribute
the aggressive front fascia. Large
18-inch wheels on the 3.5 EX are the
biggest ever on an Accord and also differentiates
the coupe from the sedan.
The Accord Coupe is available in two
models in the GCC region: 2.4 EX
equipped with a powerful DOHC i-VTEC 4
cylinder engine with 5 speed automatic
transmission generating 191 HP while a
powerful DOHC i -VTEC V6 engine with 5
speed automatic transmission and VCM
delivering 271HP hides underneath the
3.5 EX.
Recently the media was invited to test
the coupe at the Dubai Autodrome
track wherein the handling and performance
of the car were demonstrated.
The chassis, steering and
brakes have been redesigned to
make the coupe more responsive
and fun to drive. Indeed, the vehicle
was responsive to sharp turns and
hard braking and provided no reason
for fear when tight corners
were negotiated. The lowered
engine and fuel tank reduced the
centre of gravity and helped the
vehicle maintain good stability.
Premium interiors adorn the
inside with a rich, high quality look
and feel that's both classy and
modern. The distinctive low slung
coupe’s exclusive seat position
highlights the sports car appeal.
New seat design is supportive with
increased shoulder support for
drivers' safety and comfort. 230
mm wide sliding centre armrest
ensures that the driver and passenger
can rest their arms comfortably.
Once again, Honda has proven
to be an outstanding car manufacturer
in terms of safety, performance,
style, as well as, fuel efficiency
with its Variable Cylinder
Management technology.
