When Tom Pryor from McLaren told me that the 2013 version of the McLaren MP4-12C was way better than the previous years’ cars I feared a Gerald Ratner moment.
Rather than be worried about what he’d mentioned to a journalist, instead Tom was proud: McLaren invited all owners to bring in their cars and McLaren will upgrade them, (pumping out over 600 horses), so they are as good as the 2013s. That’s unheard of. What’s also unheard of is a supercar’s annual service costing around 3,000/- Dhs.
The McLaren MP4-12C is a true supercar too - without all the pretensions that accompany the European counterparts. Fast, noisy and grippy obviously, but driving is made more enjoyable by the steering wheel being a little more centred and the windscreen being larger so you can see more clearly than in any other sports car.
The most exciting part about the MC12 is not that it is a truly great sports car, but that the P1 is going to be even better!
