With American muscle cars being so popular in the UAE, Faris Albakeri from Abu Dhabi has shared with us his passion for the Ford Mustang. Since seeing his first Mustang back in 1988, his only goal has been to own a Mustang.
After graduating from high school in Al Ain in 1992 he bought his first Mustang GT (Fox Body). Faris treasured his GT for three years keeping it in pristine condition.
In 1995 Faris traded up to the 1994 Mustang GT convertible, with red interior, white exterior and the 5-speed manual transmission. Saying goodbye to your first car is always an emotional experience, but the thought of the new updated convertible GT softened the blow and Faris reluctantly sold his pride and joy to make way for the new edition to his Mustang family tree.
With his passion and loyalty growing for Ford’s iconic Mustang, it wasn’t long before he was planning to acquire the next model. In 1998 Ford released information on the new Mustang GT coming out in 1999.
In 2000 Faris travelled across the Atlantic to study for his Masters Degree in the US. His first order of business on arriving was to search for the newly released 1999 Mustang GT. It didn’t take long for him to find his new pride and joy. This time it had a black interior and fetching yellow exterior and, of course, a manual transmission. During his two-year stay in the US, Faris avidly researched the best way to enhance the performance and look of his car.
In 2002 Faris moved back to the UAE and the next Mustang he bought is the car we are featuring: the 2011 GT 500, which just happens to be the only Mustang in the UAE fitted with a ram air shaker system.
Sporting a Race Red exterior with red interior and the premium six speed manual transmission. Immediately, Faris prepared a list of everything he wanted to customise to boost performance and to make his car unique using his knowledge of American upgrades. Faris would like to thank Street Force Motorsport in Musaffah for their help and support.
