Auto Trader News - The Number One place for the Ultimate Petrolhead Fix

A decade ago, the VW Touareg celebrated its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show, today, it is not as popular as it should be.

Touareg is a really great SUV but why don’t we see more on our roads? Is it because customers can’t pronounce the name so they’re frightened to ask for it in the showrooms? Joking apart, VW have built the Touareg probably too well. It is on the expensive side of the SUV segment while less expensive options such as the GMC Trailblazer or Toyota Prado offer great value for money. Opt to pay a little more than the price of a Touareg (approx. 300,000/- Dhs) and upgrade yourself badge wise to a Porsche Cayenne.

Not many owners will be taking their Cayenne off road though and this is where the Touareg wins. VW dedicates a new special model to this era of success, the Touareg Edition X, with many exclusive features will satisfy even the most demanding expeditions. If you just prefer your SUV to be looking great on the tarmac the new Touareg Edition X comes with the Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect exterior paint, large panoramic slide/tilt sunroof, silver anodised roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened rear light clusters in LED technology. First-class specification carries on inside as well with Nappa leather trim decorative inlays in real ebony (!) for doors and instrument panel.

‘Touareg X’ logos on the wings are also included in the package just to set you apart - in Spinneys’s car park.
